Q1) 6 year old child pain in hip - Perthe's disease
Perthe's disease is AVN of proximal femoral epiphysis
Boys are affected between 4to 7 years of age
10% are bilateral
The history, clinical examination and anteroposterior and ‘frog’ lateral radiographs of the pelvis make the diagnosis.
There is a resorption and reossification phases that allow the femoral head to ‘heal’
An intermittently painful hip (or knee) with a limp and irritability or restriction of hip movements.
